Recently, City Council approved a breakthrough proposal to update and modernize the City/Nonprofit sector relationships, making Toronto a global leader in how it supports its nonprofit organizations. Their report, “For Public Benefit: Whole-of-Government Framework to Guide City of Toronto Relationships with the Community-Based Not-for-Profit Sector”, reshapes the relationship between the City and the community based nonprofit sector as an equitable and collaborative partnership aimed at achieving shared goals.
The nonprofit sector, through the Toronto Nonprofit Network, played a critical role in shaping this policy. Hundreds of nonprofit leaders participated and offered invaluable insights that led to this unique new approach and this outstanding report. To see the input from the sector, you can download TNN’s report on the consultations.
We will be reviewing the implications of this new policy in detail at the next meeting of the Toronto Nonprofit Network, on:
Monday, February 12, 2017
1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
At The 519 – 519 Church St.
Our focus will be to review the City Sector relationship outcome and start planning for initiating City Sector tables.
